Make lemon water! This fabulous little citrus fruit works wonders on the human body. I have been drinking a hot lemon water every morning for the past year and the results are fleeting. I have noticed less bloating, more energy and rest assured my immune system is top notch.
These little sunbursts of sour are packed with beneficial nutrients to power and
protect our bodies. According the USDA lemons contain 53 mg of Vitamin C as ascorbic acid and smidge of zinc for the extra immunity boost.
I was surprised but the amount of potassium in a lemon. The USDA shows that lemons contain 138mg of potassium. Potassium helps regulate fluids and facilitates in muscle contraction. Studies in Japan have also shown evidence of lemons aiding in lowering blood pressure.
Lemons are great for digestion as well. USDA records show that lemons contain 9.32 grams of fiber in this happy little fruit.
A year into my daily lemon water regimen I have noticed reduced bloating, more energy, better muscle reaction and more consistent trips to the restroom.
Here is my morning lemon recipe:
slice 1 lemon in half and juice one half (wrap the other half in plastic wrap for tomorrow or make one for a friend as well)
heat water in a kettle to just before boiling point or microwave 3/4 of water in a coffee cup and microwave for 45 seconds
once water is hot add lemon juice and enjoy!
adding a little elderberry syrup will add even more of a immunity boost
or a little honey can help with season allergies and take some of the sour out of your concoction.
